Asparagus for Manny

2018, Fresh produce, shrink wrap, glass & plastic tablewares

Asparagus for Manny explores preservation, manipulation of organic matter, and the open question of how the piece might change over time. Created as a sculptural installation that taps into the history of food based still lives, this piece brings the tradition into the 21st Century. Bringing into question the value of our produce, the global structure that enables access to wide varieties of food regardless of the season, and the unseen labor involved in its production, transportation, and preservation.
